Mike Huckabee on Character — His Book

November 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

A former pastor who preaches the Gospel in his political book.  Huckabee bashes “moral relativism,” by which he means it’s a bad idea for people to define what’s right and what’s wrong.  God should define right and wrong and he does in his word (The Bible).  Those definitions should not change based on the idiosyncrasies of one society.  Huckabee points out that humans are self-centered at their core, and in order to be good, humans need God, he points out that the basic  problem with liberalism is that liberals mistakenly think humans are good at their core.   This man is so intelligent, I will be voting for him in the November 2008 election.  Go Mike Go:)

Galatians 5:16

This I Say then, Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.  In reality, that is more than a formula. It is a promise. If you do this that will happen.  God’s Secret weapon against the devil’s sabotage of our testimony is simply to, “Walk in the Spirit”. But what does that mean? How do I do that?  I believe the answer is found back in Galatians 2:20,  My old self has been crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, But Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. ”Walking” refers to my day-by-day journey through life.  That Journey is filled with challenges.  Decisions have to be made; inter-actions with people who share my world have to be negotiated; set-backs, disappointments, responsibilities, frustrations, hopes and fears have to be dealt with.  That is the stuff of which our journey is made.  If I set out into each day, trusting in my own ability to negotiate these challenges, I must expect failure, for then I shall be “walking in the flesh”. I shall be relying on my own human resources to see me through. Try never to make the mistake of asking the Lord to help you live a victorious day.  That is like the flesh asking the Spirit to help it to have victory over itself!  The Holy Spirit will not help the flesh.  He has pronounced it dead!  It is not the flesh that will gain vicotry.  It is Christ alone who will be victorious or there will be no victory at all.
